Chief Minister Bahuguna reached Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi/ Dehradun, 8 August, 2012:
The State Government has enhanced Immediate Relief Amount to Rs.
5,400 from earlier announced Rs. 2,700 for the people hit by natural
calamities. Chief Minister Vijay Bahugna has also sought special
relief fund from the Centre and has received assurance from Prime
minister. Chief Minister Bahuguna reached Uttarkashi directly from New
Delhi and visited disaster hit areas including Matli and Gangori areas
and interacted with the affected people on Wednesday.
Chief Minister reached ITBP Camp at Matli and sought details of
damages caused by the calamity from District Magistrate Uttarkashi. He
also reviewed the rescue and relief works being carried out by the
District Administration. He directed the officers of BRO to carry out
repair works of damaged roads at Assi Ganga area on war footing. He
asked the District Magistrate to complete the necessary proceedings on
bridge devastated in deluge at Gangori so that BRO could start
constructing bridge. He instructed the District Adminsitration to
ensure sufficient supply of foods, medicines and drinking water in
affected areas. Mr. Bahuguna also visited relief camps and inspected
the arrangements made for the displaced people. He interacted with the
affected people at Government Kirti Inter College Relief Camp and
assured them that proper arrangements would be made for their
rehabilitation. He said that they could stay in the relief camps till
rehabilitation arrangements were made for them. He said that all
facilities would be provided to them in the camps. Chief Minister also
visited Tambakhani Tunnel where massive land slide had taken. He also
visited Gangori area and inspected the area on foot.
Chief Minister Bahuguna said that State Government was with the
affected people and would provide all possible assistance. He said
that Rs. 20 crore has already been sanctioned for relief purpose.
Besides, he said that Union Government has allocated additional Rs.
150 crore for relief work. He said that the Central team would visit
the affected are to estimate the actual damage and prepare report
according to which the Centre would further allocate financial
assistance to the State Government.
Also present on the occasion were Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain,
Principal Secretary Industry Rakesh Kumar, Commissioner Garhwal Kunal
Sharma, DIG Dehradun Sanjay Gunjiyal and DM Uttarkashi R Rajesh Kumar
amongst others.
