The percentage expenditure with respect to the total amount released to the 20 States/ UTs under the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) of the the Ministry of Minority Affairs has reached 75.30 % for the latest period
for which the Utilization Certificates have become due (ending 31.3.2011). As per the data available with the Ministry, 5 States: Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Manipur and Odisha have utilized more than 90% of the funds released to them – two of them (Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir) showing more than 99% utilization. On the other hand 3 States/ UTs : Delhi, Uttrakhand and Andaman & Nicobar Islands have shown an expenditure percentage which is less than 21 % . Uttar Pradesh – the State with maximum number of Minority Concentration Districts (MCDs) has shown a utilization of 72.39% of the funds released to it till 31.3.2011.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs has released a total amount of Rs. 2,969.83 crore (till 30.6.2012) to the 20 States/UTs under its Multi-sectoral Development Programme for the welfare of Minorities. As per the data available with the Ministry, out of a tentative allocation of Rs. 3,780.40 crore for the programme during the 11th Five Year Plan, the Ministry has already approved projects worth over Rs. 3,747.19 crore for the 90 MCDs - which is more than 99% of the total allocation.
Now the balance available for approval under MsDP is only slightly over Rs. 33.20 crore
